NC Community Colleges System Office has an opening for a Program Administrator in the Programs and Student Services Division. The recruitment range: $58,294 – $85,000.

The Programs and Student Services Division provides leadership, assistance, and consultation to the 58 community colleges in the areas of academic programs, adult basic education, workforce development, continuing education, student success initiatives, financial aid, national post-secondary education policy research, institutional research, and performance management.  Staff within the Division develops and administers state-level policies and strategies to improve student access, enhance program quality, and increase student success.  In addition, the staff engages college faculty and administrators to develop, field test, evaluate, and disseminate best practices that support student success. 

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The mission of the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) is to open the door to high-quality, accessible educational opportunities that minimize barriers to post-secondary education, maximize student success, develop a globally and multi-culturally competent workforce, and improve the lives and well-being of individuals by providing:

  • Education, training and retraining for the workforce, including basic skills and literacy education, occupational and pre-baccalaureate programs.
  • Support for economic development through services to and in partnership with business and industry and in collaboration with the University of North Carolina System and private colleges and universities.
  • Services to communities and individuals which improve the quality of life.

The NCCCS is comprised of 58 community colleges serving 100 North Carolina counties and supported by the System Office located in Raleigh, NC. 

This position serves as an educational consultant providing leadership in curriculum development and program improvement for the North Carolina Community College System. Areas of concentration will include construction, engineering, industrial, and transportation technologies. The purpose of this job is to provide state level consultation in the development and administration of construction, engineering, industrial, and transportation technology programs throughout the community college system. Key responsibilities will include coordinating the planning and development of programs of study, organizing professional development activities, and providing leadership and guidance to chief academic officers and their staff for the program areas assigned.

Successful candidates will be experienced facilitators with proven ability to coordinate the planning and development of programs of study aligned with workforce needs. Candidates should be able to serve as a consult to college faculty and staff for assigned program areas. Successful candidates should have demonstrated ability in program development to meet workforce needs as well as the ability to facilitate transferability of community college students to senior institutions.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES:

  • Functional expert for construction, engineering, industrial, and transportation technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, written/verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to focus with close attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of industry related professional organizations, including faculty associations.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry certifications.
  • Ability to coordinate the planning and development of courses and programs of study.
  • Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, state and local agency and institutional partners.
  • A broad understanding of community college and System Office business and services delivered, including academic services.
  • Microsoft Office and related software.

  • Community college experience: faculty experience in the fields to which assigned.
