Position Description

The North Carolina Community College System (System Office) is a statewide network of 58 public community colleges. The system enrolls over 500,000 students annually. It is the 3rd largest in the nation based on the number of colleges. It also provides data to the North Carolina Learning Object Repository by collecting, contributing, and sharing digital learning resources for use in traditional or distance learning environments. NC Community Colleges System Office has an opening for a Coordinator Specialist Projects, FNS E&T in the Programs and Student Services Division. The recruitment range: $54,197 – $81,335.

The Programs and Student Services Division provides leadership, assistance, and consultation to the 58 community colleges in the areas of academic programs, adult basic education, workforce development, continuing education, student success initiatives, financial aid, national post-secondary education policy research, institutional research, and performance management.  Staff within the Division develop and administer state-level policies and strategies to improve student access, enhance program quality, and increase student success.  In addition, the staff engages college faculty and administrators to develop, field test, evaluate, and disseminate best practices that support student success. 

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  This position is responsible for the management and evaluation of the FNS E&T (Food and Nutrition Service Employment and Training) grant program. The coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact, acting as the main liaison for the FNS E&T grant program. Fostering active communication and collaboration with USDA, NCDHHS, North Carolina community colleges, and other pertinent stakeholders on a regular basis is essential. The core objective of this role is to ensure the effective administration of the program and compliance with grant requirements, which involves developing and implementing comprehensive policies, procedures, and guidelines. It is necessary for the coordinator to continuously monitor program progress and proactively implement innovative solutions to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the program.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES: The person in this position should have knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:

  • Federal, state, and local policies and practices in the employment and training field.
  • Leadership skill related to coordinating, assisting, and/or implementing job skills training programs and/or grant initiatives.
  • Experience in conducting and/or coordinating statewide, regional, and local staff development training activities.
  • Experience with developing and/or implementing strategies that strengthen instructional delivery, expand course offerings, streamline process for local colleges, and/or develop strategic partnerships.
  • Experience with networking with state/local community colleges, state agencies/boards/ commissions, and/or various workforce development partners.
  • Experience with computer applications to include word processing, database and spreadsheet.
  • Experience with the NCCCS College Information System (CIS) or any other comprehensive database system.
