The North Carolina Community College System (System Office) is a statewide network of 58 public community colleges. The system enrolls over 500,000 students annually. NC Community Colleges System Office has an opening for a Proprietary Schools Compliance Examiner in the Office of Proprietary Schools department. The recruitment salary: $45,000.
The State Board of Proprietary Schools In accordance with the General Statutes, the State Board of Community Colleges, acting by and through the State Board of Proprietary Schools, has authority to issue licenses to proprietary schools whose sustained curriculum is of a grade equal to that prescribed for similar public schools and educational institutions of the State and which have met the standards set forth by the Board, including but not limited to course offerings, adequate facilities, financial stability, competent personnel and legitimate operating practices.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a Compliance Examiner responsible for performing on-site reviews, background inquiries, and inspections for compliance with program and other criteria; prepares narratives and visitation reports; and provides technical assistance at participating institutions. Responsibilities also include investigations of unlicensed schools that may be out of compliance with Article 8, N.C.G.S. §115D.
The main duty of this position is visiting and auditing over 100 licensed proprietary schools throughout North Carolina. Extensive travel, including overnight travel, is required.
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position. The successful candidate will have flexible options regarding regular work schedule and office location.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES:
- Experience must include familiarity with structures and objectives of education programs, accreditation requirements and procedures, and institutional administrative structures and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel and Word).
- Ability to problem-solve and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work within established deadlines for the submission or presentation of work products.
- Ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly, work well under pressure, perform tasks accurately, and maintain effective working relationships.
PREFERENCES: Direct experience in financial auditing or preparing and conducting higher education or post-secondary compliance or accreditation reviews preferred.
