  • Bachelor’s degree in subject area to be coached/consulted from a regionally accredited institution
  • Able to work with a variety of students from high school through adulthood
  • Must be creative, flexible, and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and the use of a variety of office equipment to include fax machine, photocopier, scanner, and telephone systems

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:             

 

Professional Coaches/Writing Consultants provide instructional and academic support to students who are enrolled in a variety of courses and have applied for assistance. This position facilitates student learning by helping to clarify specific course content and promoting/modeling the use of appropriate study strategies. This is accomplished through content area and study skills sessions and referrals to other support services on campus.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provides accurate record keeping of student related coaching within the Academic Center for Excellence as required for data collection and reports
  • Communicates ACE information to visitors when necessary
  • Attends ACE training sessions
  • Provides a positive student-centered, service-oriented, and professional atmosphere
  • Stay abreast of best practices in the subject area(s) of expertise and the world of academic coaching/consulting
  • Assists in the development of more responsible and independent learners
  • Creates and provide resources students can refer to as they learn and grow
  • Differentiate coaching to meet learners where they are to help them catch up, keep up, and continue to excel
  • Assists students with strengthening studying and success skills
  • Meets and partner with faculty in the subject area(s) of expertise to introduce students to ACE services, resources, and policies
  • Works as a translator to engage students in the language of the academy
  • Assists in planning, marketing, and implementing programs and events
  • Other duties as assigned
