  • Ability to work with a variety of patrons from high school through adulthood
  • Must be creative, flexible, and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent typing, public relations, communications, and problem-solving skills

Ability to use Microsoft Office, Office 365, Moodle and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Three years of experience working in higher education setting as an advisor, counselor, or tutor

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:   

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Academic Center of Excellence including but not limited to the overall planning, staffing, training, and evaluation of tutoring, advising, and testing activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Academic Center of Excellence
  • Foster a collegial relationship among colleagues and partners
  • Prepare informational materials and marketing strategies to promote the Academic Center of Excellence to students and faculty
  • Supervise ACE personnel, including its tutors, volunteers and student workers, providing training and professional development opportunities for all ACE personnel
  • Implement, manage, and maintain a Faculty Learning Resource Center
  • Manage and maintain the College’s tutoring services including programs designed for distance learners
  • Recruit, hire, and maintain quality tutors to support ACE Center services
  • Coordinate ACE/Library Assistants work schedules for seamless coverage of ACE and the Library Circulation Desk
  • Processes employment forms and time sheets
  • Coordinate and communicate development of tutoring programs to enhance faculty and student success
  • Establish procedures and processes for tutoring/testing, scheduling programs, and equipment 
  • Assist students in using equipment and common software programs
  • Coordinate testing and tutoring activities, identify services required, and coordinate scheduling and other related activities with students, faculty, and staff
  • Monitor student's tutoring needs and follows-up with students, faculty, and instructors
  • Provide feedback to instructors and counselors regarding student performance and progress
  • Develop statistical and narrative reports regarding student’s progress and success for students participating in  Academic Center of Excellence tutoring programs
  • Keep abreast of trends and issues related to student support services through professional associations and professional development activities
  • Develop and administer the ACE annual operating budget
  • Support information management of the college’s software systems related to academic support services
  • Provide assistance to support the needs of faculty, staff, and students as requested
  • Direct students to appropriate campus resources
  • Performs other duties as assigned
