Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Skilled in effectively communicating complex technical matters related to disabilities both verbally and in writing
 
Ability to work efficiently under time constraints; ability to multi-task/prioritize
 
Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records

Excellent listening skills

Ability to work comfortably with diverse populations and with people from all areas and levels of the college
 
Must possess excellent communication, technical, project management, organizational, and time management skills

Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree

Instructional design and/or online teaching experience

Experience with HTML and accessibility compliance for the Web and digital content

Proficiency with Blackboard and Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Internet browsers

Must be able to work occasionally in the evening
 

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Instructional Design or a Master's degree in a related field
 
Knowledge of how individuals with disabilities access the web
 
JAWS screen reader experience
 
Experience captioning videos for YouTube

Position Description

This position provides accessibility guidance for faculty designing and updating course materials for use in traditional, online, and hybrid courses.

 

 Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.

*Provides accessibility guidance for faculty designing and updating course materials

*Develops and delivers accessibility training for faculty designing and updating course  materials for use in traditional, online, and hybrid courses

*Conducts train-the-trainer sessions for department staff

*Assists in supervising work-study and/or work-based-learning students hired to caption instructional videos

Assists in reviewing accessibility content and monitoring discussions in the eLearning Resource Center

Monitors accessibility issues, developments, and solutions

Assists in marketing the college's distance learning programs

Completes annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis
