Minimum Qualifications

Education           

AAS in Accounting or related field required, BSBA in Accounting or related field preferred

 

Knowledge and Skills    

Two years of related work experience required which includes:  basic accounting, computer skills, office equipment knowledge.

Demonstrated competency utilizing excel and basic data base programs.

Position Description

Classification

Technical Support, full-time, non-exempt.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Process incoming invoices and requisitions for payment; ensure budget codes are correct w/approvals granted

• Print and disperse accounts payable checks per appropriate timelines

• Compile PCARD logs, update spreadsheet/process to each account monthly

• Keep log of all checks paid, make sure all the appropriate information is attached and authorized

• Process travel requests for payment, keep spreadsheet with all advance information, ensure travel is done according to regulations

• Process e-commerce payments

• Process monthly use tax reports to include sending check to NCDOR

• Compile AP Accrual information at year end

• Verify all checks are uploaded to the State Core Banking System before release

• Void checks and reissue as needed

• Track folder and sealer maintenance; order check stock and printer ribbons for check/business office printers

• Maintain and process escheat report

• Maintain check notebooks monthly and transfer yearly

• Assist with central supply registry

• Attend tax training annually

• Order check and printer cartridge supplies as needed

• Assist during registration

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as backup to the Accountant – Cashier position.
  • Assist with Purchasing when necessary and maintain Blanket Purchase Order spreadsheet.
  • Assist other department personnel as necessary

Licensing Requirement

Valid NC driver’s license

 

Working Conditions and Environment

The work environment is climate controlled, clean and quiet. Must be available to work flexible hours during peak times.

General office equipment, desktop computer
