EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

Education/Skills 

Required:  Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Accounting or a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in any discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting. Good communication skills.

Preferred:  Master's Degree in Accounting. Bilingual.

Experience 

Required: Some directly related work experience. 

Preferred: Considerable directly related work experience and teaching experience at the community college level.

Position Description

Salary is commensurate with education and experience 

The Accounting Instructor position prepares for and teaches assigned courses; evaluates student performance; and serves as an academic advisor to students within the Accounting program. Instructors are also responsible for maintaining records and submitting reports in a timely manner. The position reports directly to the Dean of Business and Industry. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets and holds classes as scheduled.
  • Advises students in the Accounting program.
  • Refers students to other supportive services when necessary. 
  • Evaluates the Accounting program to ensure continuous improvement with instructional practices and student success. 
  • Keeps current on subject matter and teaching methodologies.
  • Maintains student records and monitors student progress.
  • Completes and submits institutional reports in a timely manner. 
  • Participates in the College's Planning Process. 
  • Maintains required office hours each week.
  • Recruits students and implements retention strategies.
  • Participates/assists with coordination of specific program/course management.
  • Continually analyzes and evaluates instructional needs for hardware and software being used within the Accounting program. 
  • Provides students and college with written course expectations as defined by the College including general course information, course objectives, methods used in evaluation of students, grading policy, attendance policy,  and textbooks. 
  • Provides division dean with course syllabi. 
  • Reports SLO's (student learning outcomes) each semester to assist with the College's assessment process. 
  • Provides assistance in implementing the College's Program Review process and recommendations.
  • Serves on college committees.
  • Oversees program advisory committee. 
  • Promotes a positive image of college.
  • Engages in a program of professional development and community service.
  • Assists students with career opportunities.
  • Inventories equipment on an annual basis.
  • Acquires computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position.
  • Assists with equipment and software maintenance.
  • Maintains security of personal computer access.
  • Performs other professional or job-related duties as assigned.
