 Education/Skills 
 
Required:  Master’s Degree in Accounting or Master’s Degree in Business Field with 18 graduate hours in accounting. Good human relations skills.  Good communication skills.
Preferred: Bilingual; Career Readiness certificate
Experience
 
Required:  Some related work experience in accounting
 
Preferred:  Considerable related work experience in accounting.  Some experience in teaching at the college level.

Position Description

HIRING SALARY RANGE

MINIMUM HOURLY RATE: $31.24

MAXIMUM HOURLY RATE: Depends on qualifications

 

Applications submitted for continuous recruitment opportunities will remain active for 6 months. 

The primary work of this position is providing instruction for students in assigned classes in Accounting.  Instructors conduct necessary research to plan, develop, implement, deliver and evaluate assigned instructional courses/programs; evaluate student performance; and serve as academic advisors to students as defined by college guidelines.   Instructors are also responsible for maintaining records and submitting reports on a timely basis.  The work is performed under the supervision of the Vocational-Technical Department Head.  Some evening work may be required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching students in the subject area of Accounting to include individual income tax laws, bookkeeping practices, payroll accounting, and accounting software applications.
  • Analyzing, summarizing, reporting, and interpreting financial information.
  • Teaching subject area courses in seated, online, hybrid format.  Duties include submitting required reports and maintain accurate student records
  • Proficient with spreadsheets.
  • Developing and managing the class syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
  • Planning and creating lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
  • Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams.
  • Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Reporting student learning outcomes, class reviews, and analyzing student data.
  • Collaborating with colleagues on course curriculum.
  • Advising students on how to be successful and achieve goals.
  • Staying updated on innovations and changes within their course field.
  • Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to the position.
  • Maintain security of personal computer access.
  • Perform other professional or instructor duties as required by NC Community College System and JSCC.
