Position Description

Central Piedmont Community College has two openings in Sponsored Programs for an Accounting Specialist II in the Business Office located on the Levine campus. 

Anticipated Hiring Date: July 6, 2023

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Work Hours: 40 Hours

 

General Function

With general direction, performs a variety of moderately complex, technical accounting tasks related to preparing, maintaining and reviewing financial reports and records.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Monitors activity in assigned sponsorship accounts; audits specified accounts for accuracy; creates sponsorship accounts as requested.

2. Balances and reconciles assigned accounts and/or funds; researches and reconciles any problems or discrepancies.

3. Gathers and summarizes data; conducts research and analyzes data.

4. Prepares invoices for various sponsors and monitors receivables.

5. Assists students with account inquiries. 

6. Prepares various journal entries; makes recommendations regarding journal entries.

7. Reviews and processes financial forms and records.

8. Processes tuition and sponsorship payments upon receipt.

9. Provides information and responds to inquiries; advises departments on policies and procedures relating to their budgets and other financial information.

10.Performs other duties as assigned.

* Knowledge of standard business practices and accounting principles
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to communicate financial information with a variety of people at all levels of an organization
* Ability to maintain, review and analyze financial reports and statements
* Excellent customer service skills, knowledge of cash handling practices
* Excellent organizational skills, time management, and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments, adapting to changing priorities and situations, and follow-through on the completion of assignments

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in accounting or closely related field and two years of relative work experience or;

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field

 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary for this position is . Pay grade for this position is J - $41,600 - $51,288. Initial placement for new employees is customarily at entry level through 25% percentile. Contract type is Classified. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours, evening and weekend assignments may be required of any position. All positions are subject to budget approval.
