The Purpose

Responsible for the delivery of quality instruction in a classroom setting to students at Schenck Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Transylvania County.

What You'll be Doing

Provides individualized or classroom instruction to learners in need of basic skills development and high school equivalency preparation, including math, reading, writing, science & social studies.

Engage learners through planned differentiated instruction
Effectively manage students in a classroom and/or open lab type setting
Administer various formal and informal assessments to evaluate student content mastery
Record and report accurate student attendance
Complete required paperwork for state and federal reporting
Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable state and federal agencies.
Participate in professional development
Support departmental policies and procedures
Attend appropriate meetings and activities
Maintain the technical competencies necessary to the job function.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in K-12, Adult Education, Special Education, High School Equivalency content area, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
All applicants must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or instructional/teaching environment. Minimum of three year successful teaching or equivalent experience. Must be able to teach math skills up to intermediate algebra and geometry; writing skills to develop a five paragraph essay from a writing prompt; and effective reading comprehension strategies.

Supplemental Information

Knowledge of adult learning theory and multiple intelligence teaching strategies. Possess strong personal and professional integrity. Must have a commitment to safety. Have effective verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products.
