Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in communication or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in communication from a regionally accredited institution is required. Candidates must be able to teach online and/or on the main campus of Wayne Community College. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, excellent oral and written communication skills, being a self-starter and team player, and the ability to work collaboratively with others are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in English and Spanish and experience working with a diverse population is preferred.

Position Description

Instructional duties include teaching day or evening classes, on-site courses, hybrid courses, and/or online courses. The instructor will provide effective instruction in teaching contracted course(s) and use innovative instructional strategies and new technology appropriate for courses and learners. The instructor will use methods of evaluation that measure students' attainment of stated competencies, and review with students the evaluation of their performance; maintain a safe and orderly instructional environment in class, lab, shop, and/or clinical settings, and model professional behaviors in the classroom, on the campus, and in the community. The instructor will submit reports in an accurate and timely manner as required; and maintain academic, attendance, and student records. Participate in professional development activities including conferences, workshops, training sessions, and independent study and participate in the achievement of the College's Purpose and Goals, and perform all other duties as assigned by the Language and Communications Department Chair and/or Dean.
