Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field from a regionally accredited university or a Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited university with 18 graduate hours in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
  • Demonstrates excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse faculty/student population and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current industry-recognized certifications (i.e.: MCSC, Security +, Cisco, Net +, etc.)
  • Programming experience with language including: Java, Python, C++, VB.net, C#, etc.
  • Experience in teaching computer science/database management/cyber security in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
  • Post-secondary teaching and outcome assessment experience in a related field
  • Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under limited supervision, performs administrative, record keeping, educational, and technical work in instructing students in the classroom setting.  Work involves preparing and delivering lectures for the appropriate department; maintaining appropriate accreditations for all programs; preparing, administering, and grading periodic tests for all courses; maintaining records of student attendance as required by the Community College System. Maintain documents as needed for enrollment of students. Prepare and submit necessary documentation for continued accreditation.  Offer assistance to students outside of class time. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to college rules/policies/procedures.
  • Teaches assigned Information Technology/Computer Programming/Cyber Security courses in traditional, hybrid, and/or online settings. Prepares lesson plans, updates curriculum, course syllabi, handouts, test, etc.  Responsible for gathering resources for classes, preparing practical exercises, grading assignments, and completing reports/forms related to classes and programs.
  • Maintains open and professional communication with BCC (faculty, staff, supervisors, administration, etc.), students, community members, and representatives from business entities. 
  • Remains current with professional development requirements and active in related organizations.
  • Maintains a work schedule and assists with advising/counseling of students and special projects.
