Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications Required: Minimum: Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the disciplinary field of Early Childhood Education from a regionally accredited institution; must be committed to the community college “open door” philosophy and adhere to research-based teaching practices that promote academic excellence in teaching and learning.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred: Two years teaching experience in Early Childhood Education; Blackboard and community college teaching experience. Preference will be given to a qualified individual with a multi-disciplinary background with a master’s degree and at least 18 graduate hours in early childhood education and a field within the college transfer division. Experience working with the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students is preferred.

Position Description

he primary purpose and function of this position is to deliver instruction and support student success. Develop course syllabi, outlines, and lesson plans for curriculum courses assigned. Develop lectures, classroom activities, laboratory, hands-on exercises, and/or actual work site exercises for students to participate and learn. Monitor and record student progress in courses. Administer tests or other evaluation methods to students; grade and give feedback on exercises, homework assignments, and tests; and keep records of student attendance. The adjunct instructor will use available instructional technologies, maintain necessary records, submit all reports in a timely manner, and complete related other duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties:

o Teach assigned classes 

o Create an effective learning environment

o Meet classes as assigned

o Present instruction based on the student learning outcomes and performance levels of the course

o Use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles

o Use course text, outlines, syllabi and other curriculum materials in accordance with college and departmental guidelines

o Assist with maintaining a classroom environment emphasizing safety, good housekeeping, and equipment security

o Complete and submit on time all required instructional and administrative reports and records

o Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head, Division Chair, Dean of Curriculum Programs, and VP of Academic Affairs.

Keep accurate records

o Maintain accurate attendance and scholastic records of students

o Maintain current knowledge of programs, trends, and new developments in area of expertise

o Ensure educational program quality by engaging in continuous improvement through  assessment of student learning outcomes

o Contribute to the College’s Quality Enhancement Plan.

Other adjunct assignments

o Participate in communications with the college and department

o Meet deadlines as required

o Submit required reports

o Participate in the college's assessment process as required

o Fulfill all contract provisions

o Maintain a high level of professionalism as a representative of the college
