Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Master's degree in English or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in English from an accredited institution;
- must be a team player who is committed to the community college "open door" philosophy;
- adheres to research-based teaching practices that promote academic excellence in teaching and learning.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED:
- Two years teaching experience in community colleges;
- Blackboard and online teaching experience.
- Online teaching experience in writing courses, literature courses, and developmental English courses.
Position Description
Reporting directly to the English and Communication department head, the adjunct English instructor will plan, organize, and teach courses as assigned to ensure that student learning outcomes are consistent with program learning outcomes and the mission of the college; maintains class attendance records and submits all reports in a timely manner; administers periodic learning assessments and provides timely feedback to students; prepares and revises syllabi; participates in on-going professional development opportunities; other duties as assigned by the department head or school chair.
