Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Health, Exercise Physiology, or Physical Education or a Master’s degree in a related discipline plus 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline of Physical Education or Health from a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful teaching experience in a community/technical college or similar postsecondary institution. Online teaching experience.
Position Description
Adjunct position teaching courses in Health and Physical Education. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, online, hybrid, blended, NCIH broadcast, and lab-based sections. This instructor is expected to deliver high-quality instruction, provide supplemental materials to enhance textbook and lessons, and use effective evaluation methods to measure student performance. Additionally, this individual will also participate in course and curriculum design, development of student learning outcomes and assessment, maintain accurate attendance and grade records, and fulfill all the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required in a timely manner.
1. Exhibit an understanding and acceptance of the “open door” philosophy of Beaufort County Community College.
2. Incorporate innovative and creative teaching techniques where desirable.
3. Develop and distribute syllabi to students for each course taught.
4. Be responsible for administrative aspects relating to FTE reports, end-of -semester reports, posting grades, and submitting book orders to Lead Instructor.
5. Present to the Dean or Lead Instructor any problems, suggestions, and recommendations for improving instructional services.
6. Encourage student use of campus resources such as Trio, Learning Enhancement Center, Tutor.com, etc.
7. Refer all students to Student Services who are scholastically deficient, consistently absent and tardy, or in need of counseling.
8. Maintain a high, current level of subject matter by becoming involved in professional organizations and attending professional meetings.
9. Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Instructor and Division Dean.
