Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Interior Design or a related field
Two years of progressive experience in an interior design, architectural firm or related art or commercial profession
Computer skills using basic functions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a design related field
Five years experience in the commercial design field
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Proficiency in SketchUp
Proficiency in Revit
Proficiency in Adobe Suite
Position Description
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Interior Design classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.
*Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
* Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
* Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
* Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
* Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
* Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology

Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
Be innovative, creative, and motivated
Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work with others
Able to maintain records accruately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
Good organizational skills
Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff.
Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision.
Able to analyze instructional situations and develop an effective course of action to achieve learning objectives.
Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers and web-based resources such as BlackBoard
Demonstrates resourcefulness, initative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
