Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Philosophy, or a related field such as Master's of Divinity or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in philosophy.

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge in a traditional and/or distance learning environment. Knowledge of the Moodle Learning Management System is preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

Preferred Qualifications

Two years teaching experience at the college level and/or teaching online.

Position Description

POOLING NOTICE:
This job posting is being used to capture a pool of qualified adjunct faculty candidates.  Adjunct faculty are part-time, non-salaried faculty who are paid for each class taught and are hired on an as-needed basis. An adjunct job posting does not imply an open position exists at this time. The need for adjunct faculty changes from semester to semester and should be considered temporary in nature.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective learning experiences using a variety of teaching methods and demonstrate the ability to work with students based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Adhere to the departmental course guidelines, NAEYC Higher Education accreditation guidelines, and ensure that content covers SACS-approved competencies.
  • Have instructional plans prepared for each class session in accordance to the stated objectives of the course and implement on-going curriculum assessment and improvement
  • Assume responsibility for maintaining all required college records including attendance and grade reports, roll books, etc.
  • Maintain proper communication and supportive relations with students and provide assistance to carry out respective functions
  • Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course.
  • Exhibit intuitional values of professionalism by demonstrating the following attributes and behaviors: display empathy and positive regard; work effectively with colleagues and students; build trusting relationships; dress appropriately; meet all required standards of confidentiality and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Make recommendations to curriculum area coordinator for selection of supplies, equipment, equipment repairs, textbooks for courses of study, and the scheduling of classroom and laboratory facilities.
  • Work collaboratively as a team-member to assure consistent and sequential instruction of program level learning outcomes.
  • Develop, assess, and report course level learning outcomes in a timely and efficient manner.
