Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • A minimum of an associate degree in a related field such as office systems technology, business administration, accounting, information systems, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in an office environment.

Position Description

The administrative assistant will provide support to curriculum and workforce development & community education (WDCE) programs offered in Ashe County.

Duties include: 

  1. Provides general office support for staff and faculty of the Ashe Campus.
  2. Serves as the primary receptionist for the Ashe Campus, with a focus on customer service in the greeting of students and visitors and on incoming phone calls.
  3. Registers and processes continuing education course registrations and other paperwork for assigned continuing education courses, including course evaluations, payroll records, certification materials, rosters, and contracts.
  4. Maintains course files for assigned continuing education courses.
  5. Verifies hours and issues payment requests for the college’s cosmetology programs.
  6. Completes travel requests and reimbursement forms for faculty and staff, as assigned.
  7. Assists with budget tracking for the campus, particularly for continuing education.
  8. Supports students and prospective students at the Ashe Campus in the enrollment process and provides a customer-focused approach to problem-solving.
  9. Supports special events hosted by the Ashe Campus.
  10. Committed to the college’s mission, vision, and core values.
  11. Participates in professional development opportunities, both internally and externally.
  12. Performs other related duties, as assigned by supervisor.
