Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution 
  • A minimum of one year customer service experience
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to thoroughly assist with the informational needs of individuals
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong computer skills and commitment to using technology
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Able to work occasional evenings and Saturdays if needed
  • Able to work at other locations
  • Openness and willingness to engage in professional development activities
  • Ability to be self-directed, as well as work effectively and collaboratively with others in a team environment
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

  • Administrative support experience at a community college or K-12 setting
  • Experience working with students in a flexible setting
  • Experience managing the front desk in a  non-traditional school setting

Position Description

The College and Career Readiness Administrative Support Staff position is a full-time 12-month position  that is responsible for providing administrative support to GetREAL and College and Career Readiness.  The position reports to the Director of GetREAL and the Associate Dean of Arts, Science and Education and has the following responsibilities:

Greet visitors, students, parents, and potential students and parents and sharing information about the program.

Maintain records for the College and Davidson Works, as well as assisting with the newsletter, calendar of student  activities and other record-keeping duties

Respond effectively to inquiries and requests in a timely manner according to established guidelines

Provide general information and answer inquiries on services and procedures over phone and in person

Maintain a sign-up sheet for orientation, assemble orientation packets and answer questions about the orientation packet

Complete recruitment and retention follow-ups,  including contacting students by phone, email and the GetREAL Facebook page

Assist with tracking attendance

Staff the JobLink Center for a minimum of 5 hours per week

Schedule High School Equivalency (HiSET and GED) tests for all students

Schedule guest speakers and assist with events and field trips

Assist students with college enrollment processes (college tours, college applications, financial aid and identifying career pathways)

Assist staff with recruitment and retention

Assist with classroom paperwork and reporting

Perform other tasks as assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the College
