Education Required
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology (computer science, computer information systems, programming or other related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
(In-depth experience and Associate’s degree in information technology (computer science, computer information systems, programming or other related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution may substitute)
Experience Required
• Ten years’ experience in an IT field.
• Ten years’ experience in as a Systems Administrator Level I or II position.
• At least three years of experience administering a virtual environment.
• Experience administrating multiple platforms and complicated solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Experience Preferred
• 10 years experience in an educational environment is preferred.
• 10 years experience with Ellucian’s Colleague administration is strongly preferred.
• Experience with higher education ERP system such as Colleague strongly preferred.
Position Description
The System Administrator II (SA-II) is responsible for being the primary Colleague ERP Administrator and contact in day to day operations as well as planning for and implementing upgrades, patches, and software integration. The SA-II will attend training and multiple weekly online meetings with the system office to stay current on the technology and upcoming initiatives. The position requires effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the GTCC systems hardware, software and related infrastructure. The SA-II will evaluate and maintain servers and systems to ensure their proper security, operation and availability. The SA-II will assist and lead project teams, train a back-up system administrator, address technical issues and offer engineered solutions supporting the college. These activities include technical strategy, research & development and maintenance within the documented project life-cycle. Systems Administrators will monitor systems for proper operation, system maintenance, security-breaches and will follow established process to standardize overall server management; ensuring equipment is properly patched and maintained with software / firmware updates. The SA-II will ensure successful backups of both files and ERP data and capable of restoring data as necessary. This position will serve as an advisor and participate in the overall strategic approach to Colleague integrations and interoperability with the other business and academic departments, works closely with department managers throughout the college to analyze technology requirements, system security and integrity, document specifications, and provide technical solutions.
