Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum Associate Degree in an IT related field or an Associate degree with 2 years related IT work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience managing routing and switching infrastructure
  • One year of experience using OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP routing protocols
  • One year of experience managing enterprise email
  • One year of experience managing log and event management solutions
  • One year of experience managing Microsoft Active Directory environment
  • One year of experience managing enterprise firewall
  • One year of experience completing SAQs and working with PCI standards

Position Description

The Senior Network Administrator reports directly to the Director of Network Services.  The primary purpose of the position is to provide support for the network infrastructure systems and services.  The Senior Network Administrator will also act as the lead for ongoing activities that serve to protect confidentiality, integrity, and access to business information in compliance with college, state, and other applicable compliance standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive college vehicles.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 12 feet.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and push or pull up to 200 pounds on carts or other assistive devices.

DUTIES:

  • Install, configure and manage routing and switching environment
  • Troubleshoot WAN and LAN connectivity issues
  • Manage infrastructure configuration backups
  • Manage enterprise data and virtual machine backup solution
  • Manage and configure enterprise firewalls
  • Manage system and event logging solution for compliance purposes
  • Manage and maintain network user access
  • Manage and maintain cardholder data environment equipment hardware, software, and security
  • Participate in a compliance team that oversees technical and policy requirements related to security compliance standards under which the college operates
  • Manage partner relationships with related service providers and vendors
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues independently, with the help of departmental colleagues, and with support from contract personnel
  • Provide support for students and employees using phone, chat, email, and in-person
  • Manage tickets in the help desk ticketing system.
  • Provide hardware-purchasing recommendations by working with vendors to obtain price quotes and requisitions.
  • Drive college and/or personal vehicle to various campus work sites
  • Clearly communicate respectfully and patiently both verbally and in writing, especially as it pertains to communicating technical information in understandable ways to sometimes non-technical recipients.
  • Effectively research products, services, and problems to provide solutions and product and service recommendations
  • Ability to self-motivate, take personal initiative, and act proactively
  • Develop and implement PowerShell scripts as needed to support the college environment
  • Assist in the management of the Microsoft Active Directory environment
  • Perform information security risk assessments and serve as an internal auditor for information security issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Assist the Information Technology service department with other tasks as needed.
  • Document information security policies and procedures and reports all violations to the Director of Network Services
  • Monitor information security compliance policies and procedures, referring problems to the appropriate department manager
