Minimum Qualifications
An Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. The Applicant must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite and strong interpersonal and excellent customer service skills. One year of (full-time equivalent) admissions and records or customer service related experience is required. Strong customer service skills are critical. Attention to detail and knowledge of general office practices and procedures are required. A valid North Carolina Driver’s License with a driving record sufficient to be insurable under the Wayne Community College auto insurance policy is required. The Applicant may be required to work extended hours during peak registration periods.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the Ellucian Colleague system is preferred. Experience working with a diverse population to include students, parents, faculty, staff, and the general public is preferred. Bilingual and a National Career Readiness Certificate are preferred.
Position Description
Under direct supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions & Records, the Specialist will serve as the initial contact for prospective and current students, process applications for admission, and maintain accurate and confidential student academic records. The Specialist will work closely with other members of the Admissions & Records Office, perform related functions in the areas of admissions, registration, records, and curriculum programs, and will perform all other duties as assigned.
If selected for employment, the applicant must submit to a criminal background check and drug screening.
