Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Associate’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in Admissions at a NC Community College. Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

Ability to effectively communicate individually and in a group setting, interpret regulations, and office policy and procedures. Microsoft Office Suite, publishing software. Knowledge of and significant experience with a student information management system, preferably Colleague.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit and/or stand for periods of time; ability to lift 10-15 pounds to set up recruiting materials and equipment; ability to move from building to building on and off-campus for recruitment events.

Position Description

Carteret Community College is accepting applications for the Admissions Specialist within student services.

The primary purpose of the Admissions Specialist is to coordinate and assist with the connection and entry phases of curriculum program student recruitment and the admissions process. To maintain admissions related functions of the student information management system (Colleague) and to communicate admissions related information to all appropriate audiences.

The minimum hiring salary is $37,248-$46,560 dependent upon education and experience.

  • Develop and maintain processes to receive and enter applicant data, and notify students of their acceptance into the College.
  • Assist health science admissions team by adding health science program to newly admitted health science students.
  • Process high school and college transcripts
  • Assist in the maintenance of CFNC website to include term and major management and automated application follow-up.
  • Maintain current knowledge of State residency guidelines and exceptions for in- state tuition
  • Support Admissions Coordinator in correcting application errors.
  • Assist Admissions Coordinator in notifying students of changes in residency status.
  • Develop and maintain the communications management function of Colleague for student services.
  • Conduct recruitment presentations and campus tours for diverse audiences.
  • Respond to admissions related questions in a timely manner, including the recruitment and admissions email.
  • Participate in classroom visitations, career expos, college fairs, and other special events to discuss program options with potential students.
  • Maintain the admissions area of the college website and ensure the program of study information is accurate.
  • Maintain a steady flow of communication via email, social media, and phone calls with prospective students and applicants in order to establish a relationship with potential students.
  • Serve on school-wide committees as assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Student Services Division with departmental activities not limited to registration, graduation, college/career days, etc. Peak enrollment periods require additional work hours. Other duties as requested by College personnel as approved by the Director of Admissions and Recruitment
