Position Description

Part-time Instructor responsibilities include teaching Agribusiness Systems program, specifically Agribusiness courses. Classes meet during the day and/or evening at multiple locations and online. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Teach college level agricultural business courses at Mitchell Community College Provide effective instruction to students in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental electronic materials to enhance lessons, using effective evaluation methods to evaluate student performance Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional resources outside of class, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner so as to promote success Maintain teaching and work environment by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment Maintain accurate records such as attendance, grades, information for accreditation, and other important data and submit reports according to college policies Other tasks will include identifying and assessing student learning outcomes; excellent communication with the Department Head; grading and returning work in a timely manner; and holding weekly office hours Related Responsibilities: attend any required faculty, division, or departmental meetings work cooperatively with faculty, staff and students in a congenial and professional manner comply with College policies and procedures remain current in the field of study communicate effectively Surroundings/Environment: Varies between the standard classroom environment, away from elements, with moderate noise; and outside work with possible exposure to weather elements, probably near moving mechanical parts and moving machinery, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, including pesticides and herbicides, likely fumes and airborne particles, possible excessive vibration, loud noises and contact with wildlife. Physical Effort: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will alternate between maintaining a stationary position for an extended period and moving for extended periods. Employee will need to move about the indoor and outdoor classroom, operate and position computers or other machinery, as needed; and frequently communicate with students. The employee frequently moves up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Scheduling: This is a part time position. Classes meet during the day and/or evening at the Statesville Campus, Mooresville Campus, and/or our Early College campuses. Classes also taught online. Travel: Local travel is required, including between campus locations.
