Minimum Qualifications
Work Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years demonstrated work experience in higher education or in a student support role.
Education Requirements:Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in counseling, education, health sciences, or other related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience in higher education and student affairs is preferred. Prior post-secondary teaching, counseling, or advising experience is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Colleague and Self-Service applications
- Demonstrated work experience in student recruitment
- Experience in allied health admissions and community outreach
- Experience providing academic advising to allied health students
- Experience working with at-risk and/or minority populations
Position Description
This full-time 12-month staff position reports to the Director of the Centralized Advising Center. The Allied Health Academic Advisor/Admissions Coordinator will provide academic advising, career guidance, and academic support to students by collecting, organizing, and analyzing information about individuals through records, test scores, one-on-one meetings, and an early alert system. The Allied Health Academic Advisor works collaboratively with the Dean of Allied Health to facilitate the admissions process to allied health programs. In addition, this position works cooperatively with the admissions office to ensure timely workflow of allied health admissions. The Allied Health Academic Advisor/Admissions Coordinator also assists students who are not admitted to an allied health program select a program of study that is consistent with their interests and skill set.

- Responsible for allied health admissions and community outreach.
- Provide information to prospective allied health students.
- Provide academic advising, registration assistance, and College information through a case management approach with the assistance of an early alert system to a caseload of pre-allied health students.
- Assisting students in the development of an education plan that clarifies educational goals based on student interests, skills, and values.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records for advisees and allied health applicants.
- Coordinate the selection process for allied health programs.
- Collect allied health admissions data.
- Assist students with the allied health admissions process.
- Assist with student activities and admissions test proctoring as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and staff.
- Serve on college committees as requested.
- Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance job skills and knowledge, as agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.
- Interact with students, the community, and co-workers in a cooperative, courteous, and professional manner.
- Comply with the College’s policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
