Position Description

DEFINITION:

To manage CFCC’s apprenticeship program and provide administrative support to the Career and Technical Education Division. The apprenticeship coordinator will plan and manage the activities of the CFCC apprenticeship program with a positive and future forward approach. They will collaborate with industry partners, secondary schools, CFCC faculty and the Provost in the apprenticeship process. They will also coordinate activities with other college programs, campuses, and outside agencies.

This is a 12-month staff position that accrues leave. Annual employment dates will be from July 1st-June 30th. The coordinator is expected to be on campus five days a week for a minimum of 40 hours, scheduled to ensure appropriate availability for faculty, students, and industry. Additional hours on or off campus will be required for special events.

This position is based on the North campus; the coordinator is expected to regularly visit multiple campus sites, employer partners and potential employer partners for recruiting, marketing, and apprenticeship retention.

This appointment is dependent on satisfactory job performance. Performance reviews are completed on an annual basis. The coordinator serves at the discretion of the Provost.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives general supervision from the Provost.
  • Exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level staff and support personnel.

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the CFCC’s apprenticeship program by working directly with students, employers, faculty and the NC Community College system office.Be the point of contact for all apprenticeship questions and inquiries.
  • Work with our marketing department to coordinate outreach to other areas of the college, high schools and employers explaining the process and benefits of the apprenticeship program.
  • Responsible for offering information sessions to students and employers, visiting classes, registering students into the apprenticeship program, tracking student hours and their employment history.
  • Perform a variety of general administrative and clerical work in support of the Career and Technical Education Division.

Other Important Functions:

  • Type or word process a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, agendas, reports, class schedules, forms, certificates, contracts, and memos from rough draft or verbal instruction; prepare copies of documents; distribute information.
  • Verify and review forms for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures; update and maintain files; collect and process appropriate information; ensure that regulatory or accrediting agencies receive appropriate forms and reports.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

 

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • ApprenticeshipNC procedures and processes.
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
  • Basic principles of business letter writing and report preparation.
  • English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
  • Basic word processing methods, techniques and programs. (Microsoft Office software; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) Basic mathematical principles.

Ability To:

  • Interpret and apply the policies and procedures of the function to which assigned.
  • Respond to routine inquiries and requests for information.
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: making observations, communicating with others, reading, writing and operating assigned equipment.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: standing or sitting for extended periods of time and operating assigned equipment
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
