Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Art or closely-related field required. If Masters is in a closely-related field, the applicant must have at least 18 graduate hours in Art. Course work in other science related field is a plus.
Experience teaching college level Art is highly preferred. Experience with using instructional technology is highly preferred. Experience teaching in both high school and college environments is a plus.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Oral communication skills will be assessed in the interview. Written communication skills will be assessed in the letter of application and all application materials submitted.
Finalists who interview will be asked to teach a 10-12 minute lesson on a topic supplied in advance of the interview.
Must be a good team member and be willing to update skills as needed. Must be able to work effectively with diverse student populations. Must demonstrate commitment to the field of Art. Educational philosophy must be compatible with the role of the community college and with best practices in art education.

Position Description
Provide effective instruction to students in the classroom and/or online by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, using effective evaluation methods to evaluate student performance.
Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional resources outside of class, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner so as to promote student success.
Support curriculum development by participating in the creation and evaluation of courses, curriculum, and programs, participating in program advisory committees, attending departmental meetings, and serving as backup for other faculty members.
Promote the success of the college by participating in standing and/or ad hoc committees and following college professional and ethical guidelines.
Maintain teaching and work environment (classroom, and lab) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
Stay current in the field of Art and teaching methodology by meeting or exceeding all institutional professional development guidelines, participating in professional development workshops and seminars, and participating in professional organizations and reading journals in the teaching and Arts field.
Maintain accurate records such as attendance, grades, information for accreditation, and other important data and submit reports according to college policies.
Oversight of adjunct instruction and coordination of consistent delivery of student learning outcomes is required.
Scheduling and coordination of gallery exhibitions on campus and off campus may be required.
The instructor will be expected to develop and maintain relationships with local arts organizations and within the local arts community.
