Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in a STEM field related to Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning from a regionally accredited institution is required. Proficiency in a discipline related to artificial intelligence and with Python programming language is required. A solid mathematics background with at least proficiency in linear algebra, calculus, and probability are required. Must have good oral and written communication skills and a valid driver's license with a driving record sufficient to be covered under the Wayne Community College auto policy.
 

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science is preferred. Experience in Artificial Intelligence and an advanced understanding of automation and robotics and two years teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred. Bilingual is preferred.

Position Description

The Artificial Intelligence instructor is responsible for teaching technology courses, which may include on-campus and off-campus classes during the day, evening, weekend, and online. This position will include course development where applicable; designing and implementing learning strategies for students; timely submission of reports; participation on assigned committees; proactively staying current in emerging technologies; selecting hands-on technologies appropriate for research and student learning; maintaining instructional records; developing and evaluating course and program learning outcomes, and participation in professional development. The instructor supports student learning outside the classroom by holding regular office hours on campus, providing additional resources outside of class, participating in video conferencing, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner to promote student success. This position also serves as a program advisor. Duties include public relations, serving as a liaison between the college and local industry and recruiting for programs within the Information Systems Technology Department and Business and Computer Technologies Division. Other duties include coordinating the curriculum through interaction with the department chair, program advisory committee, and employers. The AI instructor supervises students in cooperative education, assists graduates with job referral, represents the college with educational agencies and the community at large, and performs all other duties as assigned by the department chair. The AI instructor must have a high energy level and professional presence to develop quick rapport with faculty, employers and students. The AI instructor will proactively use a variety of professional development resources, which may include web-based, in-state travel and out-of-state travel when available. This position requires the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling and could involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 20 pounds) and occasionally heavier weight (up to 50 pounds).
