Minimum Qualifications
• Associate’s degree
• Proficiency in customer service skills
• Ability to communicate positively and cooperatively with students and co-workers
• Ability to interact with students from diverse educational backgrounds
• Ability to work independently while contributing to the team environment
• Availability to work at least 4-5 evenings per month
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer technology
• CASAS certification or the ability to earn a certification within the first 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications
• Bilingual
• Experience using CASAS and TABE assessment exams
• Experience in working with adult students
• Proficiency in Excel

Position Description
Job Description
The Assessment Specialist is a part-time (up to 27.5-hours per week), 12-month position located primarily on the OCH Campus in Monroe, NC with some travel to Anson County required. Under the direction of the Director of CCR Program Performance & Accountability, the Assessment Specialist is responsible for assisting in the intake process for students enrolled in Adult Basic Skills, including High School Equivalency/Adult Basic Education (HSE/ABE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs. Additionally, this position will assist with administrative and student support duties related to increasing student post-testing rates.
Job Duties
• Assist with administering placement testing (CASAS) for ESOL and HSE/ABE students on a regular basis, including face to face, virtual, and off campus testing
• Track students hours, schedule, and administer post-tests as appropriate
• Assist with the intake process and paperwork
• Work collaboratively with staff and instructors on post-testing students for retention and MSG goals
• Assist the ABS department with end of month/semester paperwork and rosters
• File students’ registrations
• Maintain/update files for inactive students in ABS programs
• Attend educational and community outreach events to represent the department and college
• Comply with college policies rules and regulations
• Participate in institutional, departmental and program committee meetings, campus activities and representation of the college in the community
• Participate in short range and long range planning for testing and placement procedures
• Perform other duties assigned by the Program Performance and Accountability Director or the Dean of the School of College and Career Readiness
