Position Description

Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this full-time position.The position provides information and assistance to students, staff, and faculty regarding academic program requirements, admission requirements, and related information; assists in the program placement of student applicants for admission through the evaluation of applicant credentials, education, and training; assists students in course selection to meet career goals and objectives.

Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of flexible work experiences, and a willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness, and the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take and manage risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.

Duties

Advise students in areas of admission requirements, program requirements, admission status, and the transfer of credit from other institutions.

Audit applicant files for completeness and accuracy; contact students for more information as necessary.

Apply College admission standards and policies to determine applicant eligibility through the administration of standardized tests, previous education, and assessment of applicant transfer credits; recommend admission or alternative action to requested program.

Advise students regarding course selection and scheduling to ensure program requirements, as well as future goals and objectives are met.

Speak to students and other community groups to explain College services and programs.

Respond to requests for information; assist students and staff with research, information verification, and problem solving.

Refer students to outside community agencies as appropriate for guidance and support; coordinate internal support services including tutoring, interpreting, and note taking support.

Assist students with retention strategies to help them meet goals for program completion.

Maintain student academic files.

Serve as a liaison between students and faculty.

Perform related duties as assigned.
