Minimum Qualifications


Education Minimum:  Associate's degree in Business, Management, Networking, Computer Science, or related management/information technology degree.

Experience Minimum:  Use of computers in an open computer lab environment.

Position Description

Is responsible for the overall operation of the College's Open Computer Lab and assists students, faculty, and staff with computer-related issues in the computer lab.  Evening work required.
This is a part-time position.


  • Assists with the overall operation of the Open Computer Lab.
  • Maintains a working environment conducive to learning.
  • Ensures staffing of the Open Computer Lab is maintained during operational and special activity hours.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the Open Computer Lab records and reports.
  • Assists with computer lab software and keeping computers up to date.
  • Assists with the Open Computer Lab equipment and supply inventories.
  • Assists students with logon, printing, and other Open Computer Lab technical issues.
  • Assists students with registering for classes in WebAdvisor.
  • Assists students with access to JCC resources such as WebAdvisor, Blackboard, and network printing.
  • Coordinates and manages Open Computer Lab needs for visiting agencies and others needing access to the lab.
  • Manages and insures reconciliation of Pay-4-Print accounts and assists clients with issues related to the accounts.
  • Assists the Information Technology Department with between semester activities, as needed.
  • Installs and configures Open Computer Lab software as needed.
  • Troubleshoots Open Computer Lab issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Language Skills:                 

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:                   

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to generate and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability:                    

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:                      
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and should have knowledge of Blackboard, WebAdvisor, Email, and a variety of third party software.
