Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Master’s Degree from a nationally accredited institution
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited institution
  • Current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina required
  • Meet minimum national accreditation standards (SACSCOC) and minimum criteria of other relevant accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment 

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Advanced/expert level knowledge of the programs, policies, and procedures of the clinical sites utilized by the Health and Human Services Division
  • Minimum of ten years of full-time employment in an administrative role in a clinical setting 
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to collaborate well with others required

Position Description

SUMMARY

 

OPEN UNTIL FILLED 

The Assistant Dean - Health Career Partnerships is a college employee whose primary assignment involves the development and execution of strategies to strengthen external partnerships that support the programs within the College’s Health and Human Services Division. This position is a demanding one that may involve curriculum development, accreditation activities, data collection and analysis, classroom and/or clinical instruction, committee assignments, service to college and community, and working with clinical partners in the College’s service area to build and strengthen partnerships and programs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Responsible for development of strategies and processes to strengthen external partnerships, including apprenticeship opportunities
  2. Collaborate with health care providers to identify, plan, evaluate, and coordinate career pathway cohorts for nursing, allied health, and other career and technical programs
  3. Serve as a liaison to health care partners regarding clinical placements, and other areas assigned by the divisional dean. 
  4. Responsible for the research and development of innovative curriculum and programs
  5. Provide leadership toward achievement of teaching to ensure student academic success and transition to employment
  6. Provide leadership, support, and mentoring for assessment and accreditation activities within the Health and Human Services Division (site visits, self-study reports, annual reports, accreditation reports)
  7. Assist the divisional dean in continuous improvement efforts which may include areas such as advising center, technology application, articulation, and assessment
  8. Work with program leads and faculty in developing semester schedules to ensure accuracy of delivery method 
  9. Serves as a resource when resolving faculty and/or student issues related to courses and/or programs 
  10. Assist the dean and or Vice President of Academic Affairs with data collection and analysis (enrollment, recruitment, retention, course success, etc.) 
  11. Serve as an academic instructor (Nursing) according to the Gaston College Position Description for Full-Time Faculty Member as approved by the divisional dean
  12. Must meet all applicable clinical compliance requirements including, but not limited to, health physicals, immunizations (e.g., influenza and COVID-19), drug screening, and criminal background
  13. Maintain a high standard of professionalism in representing the College including confidentiality in all aspects of the position’s responsibilities and adherence to policies, procedures, and other established guidelines as appropriate
  14. Adhere to professional accountability and accept responsibility for managing situations and problems 
  15. Work cooperatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively and constructively to the achievement of team and College objectives
  16. Provide a high level of service by establishing and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships
  17. Serve on the College committees
  18. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
