Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in business administration or a closely related field; or equivalent with four years of responsible administrative or staff experience in financial aid assistance programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Title IV Financial Aid Regulations
Position Description
The successful candidate will:
Be responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations to include administering federal, state, private and institutional student aid programs, grants, monitoring the student aid verification process to ensure direct reports maintain compliant with federal and state regulations and fiscal accountability.
Supervise, train, empower, and evaluate a staff with varied strengths who are responsible for processing return of funds calculations for federal and state programs are completed in a timely manner.
Assist students with academic and career objectives in relation to financial aid information, providing advice, referrals, and status of student’s account.
Conduct needs analysis and determine individual student eligibility for various financial aid programs. Provide financial aid and loan counseling support to students.
Develop, plan, implement, and administer goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures related to the College’s Student Aid programs; ensure that processing is up-to-date with appropriate jobs running and troubleshoot any issues; develop, implement, and evaluate current processes and practices and identify gaps in services in new and modified programs, policies, and procedures.
Provide oversight of Financial Aid Technicians responsible for processing R2T4 and other forms to ensure timely posts to critical records.
Represent the College to special interest groups, private interests, community groups, and the general public. Obtain and assess data on processing services and initiatives and provide recommendations for continuous improvement to the Financial Aid Office management team.
Ensure procedures and processes are tested and documented as well as manage verification processing and complete verification of files as necessary.
Direct and evaluate student aid packaging policies to determine appropriate allocation of funds to specific categories of students.
Collaborate with all functional areas of the office in the evaluation and troubleshooting of student files, coordinate assigned student aid activities with those of other College divisions and departments. Interpret regulations and ensure compliance with current rules, regulations, laws, etc.
Confer with and provide staff assistance and advice College administrators; develop, prepare, and present recommendations and reports as requested.
Provide leadership to staff in the Financial Aid office as part of the Financial Aid management team and complete weekly reports documenting office productivity.
Develop, maintain, and plan programs and activities that support the college’s goals, mission, and objectives by serving as a liaison between the community and the financial aid office providing financial aid workshops and presentations.
Provide support and direction for financial aid and other Student Service related activities scheduled during evenings and weekends.
Perform related duties as assigned.
