Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, financial aid, or business related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites and Google applications. 
  • Ability to communicate with students verbally and in written form.  
  • Ability to be discrete, explanatory, thorough, and rational when handling difficult and confidential student data. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a Financial Aid Office setting.
  • Proficient in Datatel Colleague System.

Position Description

Program Administration:

  • Assist with administration of federal, state, and institutional student aid programs and monitoring the student aid process to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate posting of student aid funds to student accounts in preparation for disbursements after verification of attendance and withdrawals.
  • Assist with calculations of Return to Title IV (R2T4) and SAP processing.
  • Assist with annual setup of financial aid component of Datatel Colleague system, software updates, conducting data testing, and troubleshooting issues. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines.

 
Federal and State Reporting:

  • Responsible for various reports related to disbursing student aid including: exporting data to external agencies, clearing rejects, resolving MRRs and ensuring that funds are received.
  • Assist in preparation of federal, state, and institutional reports.

Program Integrity:

  • Utilize a high-level of ethical standards to perform professional judgments as related to dependency overrides and change of income/EFC in accordance with federal regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations when reviewing financial aid applications.
  • Remain current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses.

Support of Mission/Related Responsibilities:

  • Develop and conduct FA presentations as requested, as well as participate in outreach activities, including but not limited to New Student Orientation, workshops, financial aid information sessions, high school outreach programs.
  • Counsel and advise students and parents regarding financial aid needs, opportunities, eligibility, procedures, academic progress, and assist students/parents with special circumstances or problems with financial aid.
  • Provide lead support to the Financial Aid Specialists, ensuring that compliance with all financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations are followed when reviewing financial aid applications.
  • Act as a liaison between various departments, offices, and outside agencies to resolve conflict, expedite processing, and access information.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial aid and/or Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
