Minimum Qualifications
Required educational background:
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field that would allow the teaching responsibility to be possible at the College
Required kind and number years of work experience:
- Five years of advising experience, two years of supervisory experience
- At least two years teaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level
- At least two years experience either teaching, advising and/or providing extracurricular programming with transfer students
Candidates with comparable experience and educational experience and backgrounds will be considered.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of advising practices, transfer practices, and guided pathways principles
- Demonstrated experience with advising technologies and/or customer relations management software
- Demonstrated experience with advising assessment

Position Description

The Associate Dean for Academic Advising and Transfer provides leadership for the faculty advising program, ensuring that students have successful and meaningful academic advising. The Associate Dean works with other college personnel to coordinate all other advising supports, provides professional development for advisors, and assesses advising to ensure continual improvement. The Associate Dean also coordinates the college’s transfer program, overseeing the development and documentation of articulation agreements, and overseeing transfer events for CCCC students as needed. The Associate Dean oversees the ACA curriculum as well.

Essential Duties
Direct the college-wide faculty advising program, to include:
- Identifying, developing, and providing appropriate advising-related professional development to Education Navigators and faculty advisors.
- Coordinating appropriate onboarding for new faculty advisors, including the creation of an advising mentoring program
- Helping maintain accurate advising listings and ensuring that all students are assigned a faculty advisor
- Recommending technology and other supports to streamline and continually improve advising processes
- Responding to advising inquiries and concerns, serving as the point of contact for advising-related issues and questions
- Updating advising-related resources, including the advising website
- Coordinating with the Dean of Student Onboarding and Success so that advising handoffs are smooth and students have a continuous, quality advising experience as they transition from Educational Navigators to faculty advisors
- Supporting department chairs and program directors as they refine and update semester-by-semester program academic plans
- Conducting advising program assessment
- Assisting with the selection of advising award recipients
- Chairing the Advising Committee
Direct the college’s transfer program, to include:
- Developing relationships with partner universities’ transfer offices
- Convening the transfer advisory committee at least once per year in collaboration with university transfer department chairs
- Coordinating programming, including National Student Transfer Week, for transfer students
- Exploring innovative strategies to support transfer students, such as transfer panels, career community transfer sessions, and university-specific tours and program sessions
- Maintaining a current list of transfer articulation agreements, bilateral agreements, and pipeline MOUs and their expiration dates and developing processes to ensure the quality of proposed articulation and bilateral agreements
- Scheduling reviews of transfer agreements prior to expiration dates
- Facilitating enhanced transfer partnership agreements
- Serving as a transfer liaison for chairs, program directors, and deans working to create new agreements
- Supervising the Director of Student Success and Aviso Administrator/Transfer Coordinator
- Providing leadership related to ACA curriculum and instruction improvements
Additional responsibilities:
- Provide technology support for Self-Service, Slate, and other advising-related technologies
- Provide leadership to Navigate/Title III initiatives as assigned
- Teach one course in spring and one course in fall as assigned
- Support college-wide initiatives
- Serve on committees as assigned
- Serve as an academic advisor to a caseload of students
- Other duties as assigned
