Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
- Two (2) years full-time experience teaching in a higher education institution.
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in a higher education institution.
Education:
- Master’s Degree
Preferred Qualifications
Five (5) years curriculum teaching experience; experience with distance learning and computer-assisted instruction.
Position Description
- Works with divisional faculty to develop new curriculum or workforce programs and course offerings
- Recruits, hires, orients, and develops direct reports
- Provides leadership for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating (including processes for external accreditation) programs of study, services, and initiatives
- Provides effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management for members of the department
- Manages the instructional process through appropriate planning, completion of scheduling activities, and assuring adequacy of supplies, equipment, and facilities
- Participates in the development of the department’s admission standards and procedures
- Assists faculty in the recruitment, advising, and retention efforts for students enrolled in the department
- Monitors the effectiveness of instruction within the department
- Coordinates the Perkins grant by completing the local plan, program review, attending meetings, participate in webinars and professional development, and allocate resources of the grant while working with the Dean, Health and Public Services
- Maintains familiarity with accreditation agencies, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the North Carolina Community College System’s standards and requirements, and involves department’s members in actively participating in evaluation and improvement of processes within the College
- Work with programs and faculty to participate in Skills USA and the National Technical Honors Society
- Provides leadership and vision for programs, courses and initiatives with employers, colleges/universities, and agencies that increase the capacity and advances the mission of Mayland and the department
- Creates and maintains current CTE Pathways for all programs
- Assist with departmental publications, publicity and other marketing events
- Oversees the coordination of CTE programs in catalog and ensure that NCCCS and local requirements are met
- Assists Program Coordinators with the implementation of necessary curriculum changes and be knowledgeable of and implement changes made at state level or other mandate
- Performs other tasks as assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the College
