Minimum Qualifications

Master of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution with a minimum of three years employment in direct patient care as a registered nurse.

Meets North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for preparation in teaching learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. (21NCAC 36.0318 (3) Faculty)

Possesses a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.

Meets requirements as specified by the clinical agencies (immunizations, orientations, etc.) and AHA BLS.

Demonstrates motivation, initiative, & a high degree of independence, with extensive knowledge of nursing and commitment to evidence-based best practice.

Communication skills, both oral and written are necessary. Must have efficiency in Microsoft Office ( Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science in Nursing: Education.
Teaching experience in pre-licensure nursing education at a community college or four-year college.  

Position Description

Provide quality instruction for face-to-face and online classes to include days, evenings, and weekends; both on and off campus. 

Demonstrate effective written and oral communication and ability to facilitate learning of concepts related to the individual, nursing, and healthcare.

Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff. 

Model and uphold professional nursing standards to include teamwork, scholarship, and collegiality.

Advise students who are in the program. 

Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.

Provide input on program review, assessment, and other departmental tasks. 

Revise and update existing courses for relevancy and currency consistent with the role and mission of the college. 

Maintain face-to-face and/or online classroom environments conducive to student learning, engagement, and retention. 

Maintain accurate records of students enrolled in classes and prepare and submit reports as required. 

Incorporate latest instructional technologies in course delivery and utilize interactive learning technologies to engage students in the teaching and learning process. 

Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned.
