Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited institution with agreement to enroll and complete an accredited MSN program within five years of hire.
Work Experience:
Required: A minimum of two years clinical nursing experience and a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
Required Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication.
Proficiency with commonly used computer software.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Preferred: Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution.
Work Experience:
Preferred: Post-secondary teaching experience in a prelicensure nursing program. Strong medical-surgical, intermediate, or community health nursing care experience.
Position Description
This position is a full time 9 month position in the second year (senior) division of BCCC’s A.D.N program. Teaching responsibilities are primarily in the clinical and lab setting, with some classroom responsibilities. The chosen candidate will assist mentoring and student success initiatives.
Clinical assignments generally include two days of clinical instruction. Theory is primarily delivered in the classroom environment, but may include virtual instruction, based on program needs. If the chosen candidate has no prior teaching experience, they will receive preparation in teaching and learning principles including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation as required by the NC Board of Nursing. This individual will also participate in course and curriculum design, development of student learning outcomes, assessment and evaluations, serve on college committees, advise and register students, maintain office hours, and fulfill all the duties and responsibilities of BCCC faculty.
The chosen candidate will be peer mentored by an experienced faculty member to ensure continuity of program outcomes and a smooth transition into the role of faculty member.
