Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in biological sciences or related field
Five years of relevant laboratory or industry experience
Three years of teaching experience in post-secondary education
Three years of experience in management or supervisory experience
Ability to travel 5-10% - traveling to industry clients to review processes and facilities
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in biological sciences or related
Five years of experience teaching in a community college or other post-secondary education environment
Five years of management or supervisory experience, preferably within the NC Community College System
Position Description
Pay Grade: Manager 7
The BioNetwork Capstone Associate Director assists the Center Director with the coordination and administration of all aspects of the BioNetwork Capstone Center. This includes serving in the Director's absence to provide stability and coherence to the site in day to day activities. In addition, this position will be responsible for developing and delivering training in assigned areas.
This position is part of a state-wide Bionetwork program funded by the North Carolina Community College System. Wake Technical Community College serves as the fiscal agent for this position. Daily operational and supervisory activities are conducted and managed by North Carolina Community College System personnel.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):

*In the absence of the Director, as assigned, effectively manages day to day site operations including personnel assignments; serves on BioNetwork Leadershp Team; represents Center in engagement activities with partners and NCCCS; and assists in strategic planning for the Capstone Center
Assists Capstone Center Director in establishing new industry contacts
Consults with Capstone Center Director on a regular basis concerning budgetary and personnel issues
Represents Capstone Center in on-going engagement activities with industry partners
Monitors industry trends and benchmark practices in other states and countries
Maintains currency in field of expertise, in training and instructional development, and in course delivery to ensure best practices in designing and delivering education and training
Develops reports related to established metrics that assess the effectiveness of our programs and to gauge the needs of the industry sector
Maintains effective working relationships with industry representatives, BioNetwork colleagues, community college staff and the general public
Represents BioNetwork at meetings, conferences and presentations by the promotion of our resources, capabilities, and programs to internal and external customers
*Performs the duties outlined in the job description for BioNetwork Industry Trainer as follows:
Oversees BioNetwork Laboratory staff pursuant to area specialty to include supervision, assignments, scheduling, goal setting, and evaluations
Delivers training both on-site at the BioNetwork Capstone Center and off-site across North Carolina
Develops short courses and training modules in areas of expertise with an emphasis on aseptic related processes and topics including microbiology, sterile filtration, media and component preparation, open and closed aseptic systems, environmental monitoring, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization processes cleanroom design and control, and fill and finish processing according to current regulatory and industry standards

Ability to analyze and define problems, collect data, establish and evaluate facts, draw valid conclusions, and make and implement decisions
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations
Skilled in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are: changes in workload; changes in assignment; pressures of deadlines; competing requirements; heavy workload requirement
Ability to work effectively with limited supervision
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
