Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)

1. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree;
2. Five years of full-time or equivalent experience in a corporate, industrial, or higher education environment;
3. Three years of full-time or equivalent project management experience;
4. Five years of full-time or equivalent experience building business relationships;
5. Three years of full-time or equivalent experience in database/spreadsheet tracking.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master’s degree;
2. Two years of full-time or equivalent experience in administration of the NCCCS Customized Training Program;
3. Training experience in an educational, corporate, or industrial environment;
4. Experience in the development, scheduling, or maintenance of industry block-style training;
5. Experience working with a demographically diverse population;
6. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language;
7. Certified to deliver training such as OSHA 10, 1st Aid/CPR, popular leadership products;
8. Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow, Green, or Black Belt;
9. Two years of full-time or equivalent experience using the NC Community College System’s Colleague database;
10. Experience using web applications such as WordPress.

Position Description

Job Description Summary

Responsible for helping Division and College achieve strategic goals regarding the training and services provided to local businesses industries during the College’s fiscal year. Serves as a representative of the Customized Training Program. Coordinates training services through consistent direct contact with industry clients. Works with clients to build and manage active training services and projects. Works with clients and the Director of Economic & Workforce Development to adhere to project plans and manage training budgets. Schedules and works with instructors to create and manages course documentation. Follows up on assigned leads, and identifies and creates new opportunities for marketing A-B Tech to businesses, resulting in revenue and enrollment growth to meet established targets. New client duties include solicitation, qualification, negotiation, contracting for and account maintenance of contract training clients, and direct outreach to student and community groups. Assists with the administrative components and employee supervision of the Economic & Workforce Development Department and the Advanced Manufacturing Center.

 

Duties

Project Management

1. Serves as point of contact for the Customized Training Program and meets regularly with assigned clients to ensure consistent alignment on planned training activities.

2. Assists clients in following training project plans and scheduling planned training events.

3. Secures instructors, assists with contract negotiations and setup, and initiates the setup of class documentation.

4. Works closely with the Director of Economic & Workforce Development in making training requests, funding requests, and in managing project budgets.

5. Registers training classes for assigned clients and verifies accurate completion of class paperwork.

6. Navigates data entry and management in the NC Community College System’s Colleague database.

7. Updates and manages project and training services records.

8. Adheres to state guidelines on Customized Training Program projects.

9. Assists with year-end reporting.

10 Tracks work time by category and ensures daily activities align with College and Division's strategic goals.

Outreach to Business, Industry, & Community

11. Provides information regarding Workforce Development training and other programs offered by the College to prospective business and student groups. Attends internal and external training sessions, including departmental meetings, to assure proficiency in educational programs offered.

12. Follows up on assigned leads in an effort to build training services participation by local business and industry.

13. Schedules and manages industry block training, including maintenance of block training web site.

14. Build client relationships, develop and present training proposals, and closes sales contracts for training and services.

15. Prospects and generates new business & industry clients through research, cold-calls, outreach, and other marketing/sales initiatives.

16. Participates in community and student outreach events as appropriate, in conjunction with Division staff and Student Services office of recruitment.

17. Collaborates with Division Directors and Coordinators to deliver courses and provide follow-up to business clients.

18. Develops a complete understanding of assigned A-B Tech course products in order to offer customized products for business clients. Collaborates with appropriate College staff to develop enhanced or new training desired by the industry/market.

19. Utilizes and maintains client and prospect database.

Administrative

20. Assists the Director of Economic & Workforce Development in administrative components associated with the Economic & Workforce Development Department and the Advanced Manufacturing Center as directed.

21. Assists with employee supervisory duties as the Director is assigned to other projects.

Instruction and Other

22. Delivers relevant training to industry clients as needed (e.g. 1st Aid/CPR, leadership certifications such as Achieve Global or DDI, Expert OJT, Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green/Black Belt, etc.).

23. Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and Welcoming College statement.

24. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.

25. Performs other duties as assigned.
