Applicants must have considerable knowledge and experience in the repair, operation, servicing and preventive maintenance relating to building trades: Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, HVAC, Carpentry, Painting, and Masonry. Applicants must be capable of operating and applying principles, practices, tools and equipment used in facilities maintenance. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and a North Carolina driver’s license. The applicant must be insurable on the College’s auto insurance policies. Applicants must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, HVAC, Carpentry, Painting, and Masonry. A minimum of two-years facilities maintenance experience and an applicable certificate/diploma from accredited source is preferred. A commercial driver license is preferred. Additional desired skills include practical knowledge and experience in automotive maintenance and grounds maintenance. National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual are preferred.
The facilities maintenance technician performs servicing, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on campus facilities utilizing a work order system. The technician acquires parts and supplies for facilities maintenance utilizing the institution’s requisition procedures, and operates assigned motorized vehicles, hand tools, power tools and other equipment. The technician will be required to perform some automotive and grounds maintenance duties, and must be familiar with state and federal EPA, OSHA, NEC, and NFPA safety compliance requirements. The technician assists in shipping and receiving, and performs physically strenuous work to include bending, climbing and lifting. The technician serves as a member of the College’s emergency response team.
