Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited education institution
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
- Current ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Master Technician in Automobile & Light Truck.
Position Description
Provide instruction in the Automotive Systems Technology program to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain all types of automobiles. Instructional topics include brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, suspension and steering, automatic and manual transmissions, drive trains, heating and air conditioning systems, and related topics according to ASE Education Foundation guidelines.

Essential Duties:
- Work with and teach a diverse group of students in automotive concepts and employability skills, as it relates to job seeking.
- Possess a thorough understanding of automotive concepts and core competencies.
- Provide instruction and supervise training for a variety of automotive projects in ASE.
- Educate students on relevant safety requirements, laws, and regulations pertaining to automotive trades.
- Facilitate in-classroom learning and hands-on training.
- Train students on the proper operation of power tools.
- Work with Supervisor to make sure all supplies and tools are ordered for classes.
- Control and monitor all inventory (tools and equipment).
- Complete VGCC paperwork with limited assistance and submit in a timely manner for entering data into the system.
- Provide feedback to students regarding course progression.
- Maintain suitable class records, registration forms, attendance forms, evaluation forms, etc.
- Submit paperwork to the Coordinator at the end of class in a timely manner.
- Inform Prison Staff and Coordinator of any student issues (attendance, behavior, etc.) as soon as possible.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently as needed to move objects and materials
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
