Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree or certification in Carpentry from accredited institution or five years’ direct experience as a carpenter or contractor in a residential or commercial setting.
  • Must speak be English-Spanish proficiently
  • Must be willing to take part in the NCCER training
  • Must be able to work evenings
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft word and Power Point

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Classroom instruction and shop work, examination preparation and grading, to prepare student for a career in the construction industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures that all necessary documents are kept current and delivered in a timely manner
  • Ensures that accurate and current materials are being used in the classroom
  • Prepares and updates materials/outlines for adult learning styles
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Confidentiality is extremely imperative. Brunswick Community College follows FERPA guidelines

      Must be able to:

  • Speak English and Spanish fluently
  • Provide students with text book and hands on training
  • Maintain up-to-date with building and codes regulations.
  • Proficient with blueprints, sketches, building plans to be able to prepare project layouts, determine dimensions, and amount of materials required.
  • Ability to shape and cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, power tools, using industry used safety  rules and regulations, as well as maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Assist students in the installation of windows, frames, flooring, trim, or hardware used in the construction industry.
