Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Flexible schedule (able to work evenings and weekends as needed).

Strong oral and written communication skills (both Spanish and English).

Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Assessment of student learning.

Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Ability to comprehend data and create reports.

Well organized.

Be proactive, anticipate problems, and try to solve them independently.

Creative, innovative, flexible, and open to change.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education/Skills

Required: Associate Degree; Strong Computer Skills; Bilingual (Spanish)

Preferred: Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)

 

Experience

Required:  Experience in educational settings and interaction with the public. Equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred: Some experience in a community college setting. Prior recruiting experience and knowledge of community college programs and services. Google Docs and Colleague Data System.

Position Description

HIRING SALARY RANGE

MINIMUM HIRING SALARY: $24.00 hourly

MAXIMUM HIRING SALARY: Depends on qualifications

 

The Bilingual (Spanish/English) College Recruiter visits public, private, and charter schools, and local businesses and participates in community events to inform potential students of programs JSCC offers and to expand our Latino Programs.  Outreach is made with recruits through phone, email, and social media.  Assists with student activities and registration for Curriculum and Workforce Development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish goals, objectives, and procedures for student recruitment, registration, enrollment, and retention.

 

  • Represent JSCC in the community by presenting information about programs the College offers in high schools, businesses, college fairs, festivals, etc.

 

  • Contact all applicants and potential students and stakeholders to provide information regarding enrollment.

 

  • Run reports and analyze data to determine student engagement.

 

  • Coordinate campus tours for outside groups.

 

  • Work closely with NC Works Career Coaches, Early College Liaisons, and Career and College Promise staff.

 

  • Assist with College events such as Graduation, Job Fairs, and New Student Orientation Sessions.

 

  • Attend community events to recruit prospective students for Curriculum, Workforce Development/Continuing Education, and College and Career Readiness Programs.

 

  • Collaborate with NC Works and other area human service agencies to advertise and promote JSCC programs.

 

  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Recruiting, and Public Information Director to develop advertising materials.

 

  • Distribute marketing material throughout the College's service area.

 

  • Assist students with class and program registration.

 

  • Assist with student activities and student organizations.

 

  • Assist Marketing, Recruiting, and Public Information Director with all social media platforms and with College website updates.

 

  • Coordinate resources to meet students' academic and non-academic needs, and make appropriate referrals to outside agencies for supportive services.

 

  • Work closely with the College Foundation on events and identifying College Ambassadors to assist in representing the college.

 

  • Assist Department Heads and Program Chairs in recruiting strategies to promote programs.

 

  • Work closely with area high school guidance counselors and career coaches.

 

  • Represent the college at special events as directed by supervisor.

 

  • Serve as the college’s Spanish translator as needed.

 

  • Assist in growing the Latino Center and expanding Latino programs.

 

  • Flexible schedule (able to work evenings and weekends as needed).

 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills (both Spanish and English).

 

  • Maintain security of personal computer access.

 

  • Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned.

 

  • Serve on college committees.
