Position Description

PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR

 

GENERAL FUNCTION

Under limited supervision, performs administrative, record keeping, educational, instructing students in the classroom setting. Work involves preparing and delivering lectures, maintaining appropriate certification as an American Heart Association (AHA) instructor. Maintains records of student attendance as required by the Community College System. Provides Director with documents needed for student records. Completes and submits AHA Rosters timely and ensures that students receive their eCards. Provides copies of certification renewal(s) to Health Education Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides AHA Courses, following the AHA specific curriculum.
  • Following lecture, students will perform high quality-CPR, proper use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and demonstrate competency in each component of Basic Life Support (BLS) adult, child, and infant CPR and choking.
  • Administers written tests to students following completion of skills in classroom.
  • Evaluates and remediates students to ensure 85% or above on written course content.
  • Issues AHA certifications to students.
  • Will assist the Health Education Director to ensure that all required materials, equipment and supplies are available for students.
  • Maintaining compliance with established North Carolina Community College System performance measures, national benchmarks, etc. for the appropriate curriculum as prescribed by the North Carolina Community College System and accrediting entities.   • Providing timely and accurate reports including 10% reports, grade reports, and other required reports related to instruction.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Experience Teaching Adults
  • Valid NC driver license
  • Current BLS Instructor with the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff, faculty, subordinates, students, and the public in the performance of the job.
