Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in business, accounting or related field; minimum of one year of retail management experience; experience with a point-of-sale system, inventory control, and customer service. Ability to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis. Possess a valid NC driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree in business, accounting or related field; three to five years retail management experience; supervisory experience; experience in a college bookstore.

Position Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Ability to work with vendors, faculty, and staff to ensure the College bookstores are meeting the educational needs of students. Maintain booklists for both campuses by ensuring these lists are available in the stores and on the website prior to, and during, each registration period. Train, instruct, schedule and direct the performance of bookstore employees and work study students. Ensure timely fulfillment of online book orders from students for both campuses. Prepare and review daily sales report to analyze store profitability and submit to the Business Office. Manage book orders via electronic online ordering process from the faculty to allow sufficient time for ordering and receiving books for registrations of curriculum and continuing education courses. Responsible for receiving and verifying all deliveries. Responsible for submitting and scanning invoices for payment to Accounts Payable. Ensure that both campuses maintain a clean and orderly store. Recommend and evaluate marketing strategies for the bookstore. Meet with Bookstore Committee bi-annually to review the policies associated with the bookstore operations and provide recommendations for improvement including, but not limited to, textbook adoptions, book returns, book buyback, bookstore operating hours, refund policies, and markup percentages. Responsible for the efficient maintenance of textbook and supply inventories for ECPS Early College and dual-enrolled students, including purchasing decisions that accomplish the most economical price for quantities ordered. Perform inventory counts annually, on or near June 30, in accordance with established inventory procedures. Implement strategies to minimize inventories of damaged goods, outdated texts, and slow selling merchandise. Conduct performance evaluations on all bookstore personnel per institutional guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the College.
