Minimum Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse populations 
  • Capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing applying problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience learning and utilizing new software technology 
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge or experience in the protective services environment

Position Description

Job Description

The Campus Safety Customer Service Operator is a part-time position (up to 25 hours per week) located on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe NC.  Under the direction of the Director of Safety and Security, the Campus Safety Customer Service Operator operates the Safety Operations Center, which serves as the dispatch center for SPCC. Responsibilities also include; monitoring surveillance cameras, and submitting necessary requisitions and work orders as needed.

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate ambassador-style courtesy and service to all in person or by phone extending sensitivity and confidentiality of information in compliance of HIPPA, FERPA or any other applicable laws or regulations
  • Be aware and provide general information to the public regarding hours of operation important dates, programs, events especially when situations require changes 
  • Direct general public to events being conducted in the SPCC Conference Center, Salons A/B, and other campus locations
  • Recognize appropriate steps to recruit assistance of Director of Campus Safety when situations appear an alternative solution is unattainable
  • Coordinate all calendars, agendas, and emails regarding all SPCC campus events, schedules, meeting, and special notices post such details to the Director of Campus Safety, Safety Operations Center (SOC) and Weiser Security 
  • Possess a calmness in emergency situations for reporting emergencies to police, fire, rescue, and notifying appropriate college personnel
  • Respond alertly and responsibly, greeting all visitors, students, and employees in a professional yet informative manner
  • Answer incoming calls efficiently with a pleasant, friendly telephone voice and helpful attitude for determining the caller’s needs 
  • Utilize all emergency systems for activating mass notifications to all employees and students according to our SPCC All Hazards Emergency Response Plan (AHERP) 
  • Comprehend our SPCC All Hazards Emergency Response Plan (AHERP) and be proficient and capable of utilizing emergency notification systems RAVE, LYNX, INFORMACAST, GENETEC and any additional technology or software
  • Submit and follow-up help-desk requests, maintenance work orders, and SharePoint requisitions as directed by the Director of Campus Safety 
  • Coordinate communications, documentation, and tracking of training records, chemical inventory, incident reporting, and emergency planning or reviews using MS-Office products or proprietary software ( Ex. MSDS)
  • Capable of adjusting to scheduling changes, needs, or flex-timing as warranted to fulfill the position
  • Accept that other duties and responsibilities may be assigned, added, or taken away so as to assist the Director of Campus Safety or the Vice-President of Finance and Administrative Service in completing their duties and responsibilities
