Position Description

Job Summary:
The Career and College Promise Specialist is responsible for the support of the day to day operations related to the CCP Program at the college and with educational partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
College Related Responsibilities:
• Provides support in the planning, enhancement, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the CCP program.
• Supports daily operations of audit and compliance for dual enrollment student records. Including the support of full time CCP Staff and point persons on compliance and standards of CCP Applicants.
• Supports admissions and enrollment for the CCP Program by ensuring accurate enrollment eligibility via a review of all CCP Applicants.
• Serves as a College Contact for CCP to internal College departments. Including serving as an advocate on behalf of the student and college faculty and staff in situations where additional support is needed.
• Serve as a liaison between students and parents to Mitchell Community College personnel including Faculty and Staff. Communicating with parents and students as needed via college approved methods like phone, email, and conducting in-person and virtual meetings to provide support.
• Use of college systems such as AVISO, Self-Service, Colleague, and One Drive to assist in maintenance of accurate records of applicants, pathway changes, student monitoring and tracking systems, as well as, program registration assistance, advising, and compliance.
• Support a point person in Admissions, Advising, and other Student Services departments as needed who will provide accurate information to parents and students about the CCP Program including benefits to student’s, pathway choices, the admissions process, and registration help.
• Collaborates with appropriate college offices to maintain and ensure compliance of student files, including maintaining needed records of written and oral communications to meet all college and accreditation standards.
• Ensuring student registration and course compliance with all State Standards by assisting with a registration review each semester.
• Assists in the successful transition from high school to post-secondary education by connecting students with the proper college resources, i.e. Admissions, Financial Aid, and Academic Advising.
• Academic Advising and planning for students based on student’s dual enrollment program and individual academic and career goals with direct correlations to the dual credit agreements leading to Certificates, Pathway, or Degree completion if desired by student and possible based on compliance standards.

Partnership Responsibilities:
• Establishes and maintains positive and supportive communication channels with area high school administrators and counselors including charter, home school, and private schools to promote and enhance the program. Works with the named groups to assist with student advising and enrollment in the program and providing information regarding career pathways and opportunities for students to earn credit or credentials prior to high school graduation.
• Assist high schools with understanding compliance with NCDPI data for maximum utilization of the program within compliance in awarding students’ college credit.
• Ensure compliance of the program with all State Standards including an annual and as needed review of all transcripts for active CCP Students.
• Staying up to date on program and policy changes related to CCP.

Community Responsibilities:
• Student outreach and recruitment through providing educational presentations to the community about the CCP Program at Parent Nights, Open House Events, Curriculum Nights, and other opportunities to enhance and promote the program.
• Serves on Community Committees as needed to share about and promote the CCP Program.

Related Responsibilities:
• Provide career development resources to students as they progress through their college transfer or career and technical education program.
• Supports maintenance of a training manual for the CCP Program.
• Supports in the development of CCP Marketing Materials.
• Participate in professional development relevant to position on local, state, and national level as needed.
• Serves on Mitchell Community College committees as needed.
• Operate school vehicles and a variety of office equipment as needed. Including, but not limited to computer, calculators, copy machines, scanner, telephones, etc.

• Knowledge of federal and state policies and procedures of CCP.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Strong commitment to customer service and ability to handle difficult phone calls and situations.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal communication, and time management skills.
• Student centered.
• Ability to interpret and communicate CCP Program regulations to a variety of audiences including first year college students and their families.
• Ability to interpret and communicate College Transfer and Career and Technical Education Educational Standards to a variety of audiences including first year college students and their families.

Surroundings/Environment:
Standard office environment, usually indoors away from the elements, with moderate noise. Some outdoor recruitment required, but not regularly or often.

Physical Effort:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain a stationary position for an extended period; move about the office, operate and position computers and files, as needed; and frequently communicate with others. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds. Work may include operation of a motor vehicle.

Scheduling:
This is a part-time position. Monday through Friday; however, must be available to work occasionally on weekends and evenings.

Travel:
Local travel is required, including between campus locations and to local high schools. Some travel may be required for trainings and conferences.
