Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and at least two years of work experience in a community college or public school environment is required. Must have experience with Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Work experience as a career/academic advisor, academic/success coach, or industry-related career development work experience in business, industry, or labor is preferred. A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual are preferred.

Position Description

The Career Coach is responsible for assisting students at designated high schools with determining career goals and identifying community college programs to enable students to achieve these goals. The Career Coach will work with career development coordinators and high school counselors to provide academic advising, career guidance, and academic support services to students. Job duties include planning, designing, and implementing career development workshops; providing opportunities for job shadowing, mentoring, internships, visits to business and industry, and other career awareness activities; providing information regarding local and regional workforce needs; monitoring and tracking student career interest areas and the job market; maintain accurate and timely records of coaching activities and students served; create partnerships and interact with a variety of external workforce development stakeholders including alumni, business and industry, governmental agencies, etc.; and provide enhanced career services counseling for underrepresented and first-generation college students. Perform other duties as assigned.
